About David E. Sykes

David E. Sykes Esq. graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1974 with a Juris Doctor of Law degree. At that time he became a member of the Maryland Bar Association, The American Bar Association and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City and the Maryland Court of Appeals. David’s early years of law practice included a position as trial attorney with the United States Department of Health Education and Welfare (HEW) and later a private law practice. Thereafter David used his legal background in helping to develop his business career in Maryland, Washington D.C. and California in the areas of mortgage banking, real estate and investment properties.

Over the years he has been president of several companies and has served on the board of directors for profit and non-profit organizations. Since coming to Iowa in 1983 he has served for many years as a business consultant and corporate legal counsel.

In April 2008 David passed the Iowa Bar exam and was admitted by the Iowa Supreme Court and Iowa Bar Examiners to the practice of law in Iowa. He has also become a member of the Iowa Bar Association.

In opening his law offices in Fairfield, Iowa he plans to bring his experience in both law and business to help serve his clients.

David also remains committed to his Fairfield community by currently serving as the chairman of the board of the Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation, Inc. that he cofounded in 1985 and is a founding past director of the Jefferson County Farmers and Neighbors, Inc. (JFAN).
